Narrative:

Our airlines operations manual requires that the #2 communication be monitored continuously, either on a company frequency or on commercial aeronautical radio. When doing so I have missed ATC instructions and have had to have the PF answer or ask for repeats. This situation is creating the potential for missing ATC instructions which could cause a violation. I have already had instances which could have created a problem. The PF is supposed to fly, not have to watch the company radio, too.
