Narrative:

Cpr X departing stl in turbo commander 1000 (AC695A) received cards 3 departure with assigned altitude of 5000 ft. Departure reads for propeller aircraft 3000 ft or assigned altitude. Assumed clearance delivery knew what they were doing. Departure was expecting climb to 3000 ft. Had B727 ahead and left climbing to 5000 ft being vectored across our flight path. Departure saw upcoming conflict, stopped my climb at 4500 ft and issued 60 degree r-hand turn. VFR separation was maintained. Problem seems to be in aircraft type identify. A turbo commander 1000 is listed as AC95, but many controllers seem to think this is a jet commander 1121. Proper identify is important. Need to issue clarification of type idents. I suspect many pilots are not using this type identify. AC69 = jetprop commander, AC6T = 690C commander, AC84 = jet commander 840/980/1000, AC95 = 695 commander, (either of these idents are applicable to my aircraft).

I SUSPECT MANY PLTS ARE NOT USING THIS TYPE IDENT.
