Narrative:

We were given a clearance to descend to 17000 ft and 250 KTS 10 NM east ffu. First officer read back 10000 ft east and 250 KTS to center who did not say anything about an incorrect altitude. Passing 14500 ft controller told us to climb to 17000 ft without asking our altitude or asking what altitude we were descending to. We climbed up and rest of flight uneventful.
