Narrative:

I left cockpit to go to bathroom, and left aircraft in control of first officer. When I returned, first officer said we were cleared to descend to cross 40 north srq at 13000 ft. Soon after, ZJX asked if we were going to make crossing restr of 40 north of lal (lakeland VOR). We were at that point too high to make it, but we commenced a descent and said that we had heard and read back 40 north of srq, not lal. Center gave us vector and we missed the restr by about 6-7 mi. First officer says center gave a clearance direct srq and then clearance to cross a point 40 out of lal, which resulted in the assumption that the restr was from srq. Moral of the story: don't leave cockpit right before descent!

Title: ALTDEV XING RESTR NOT MET.

Narrative: I LEFT COCKPIT TO GO TO BATHROOM, AND LEFT ACFT IN CTL OF FO. WHEN I RETURNED, FO SAID WE WERE CLRED TO DSND TO CROSS 40 N SRQ AT 13000 FT. SOON AFTER, ZJX ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO MAKE XING RESTR OF 40 N OF LAL (LAKELAND VOR). WE WERE AT THAT POINT TOO HIGH TO MAKE IT, BUT WE COMMENCED A DSCNT AND SAID THAT WE HAD HEARD AND READ BACK 40 N OF SRQ, NOT LAL. CTR GAVE US VECTOR AND WE MISSED THE RESTR BY ABOUT 6-7 MI. FO SAYS CTR GAVE A CLRNC DIRECT SRQ AND THEN CLRNC TO CROSS A POINT 40 OUT OF LAL, WHICH RESULTED IN THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE RESTR WAS FROM SRQ. MORAL OF THE STORY: DON'T LEAVE COCKPIT RIGHT BEFORE DSCNT!
