Narrative:

Someone inadvertently set 22000 ft in the FMC at majic instead of 22000 ft at mayos. So thinking the descent rate was within limits to cross majic at 22000 ft, was not enough to cross mayos at 22000 ft. Mayos crossing altitude of 22000 was missed by 1000 ft. ZTL advised of the missed crossing altitude and crew immediately corrected the mistake. To correct this from happening again, 2 intxns with the same beginning letter should be separated, ie, majic arrival -- keep majic intersection but change mayos changed to another name, like 'stirp,' 'filly' or another name not starting with 'M.' supplemental information from acn 293585: first officer put 22000 ft in FMC at majic intersection. We missed mayos crossing. Cross mayos at 24000 ft.

Title: ALT BUST.

Narrative: SOMEONE INADVERTENTLY SET 22000 FT IN THE FMC AT MAJIC INSTEAD OF 22000 FT AT MAYOS. SO THINKING THE DSCNT RATE WAS WITHIN LIMITS TO CROSS MAJIC AT 22000 FT, WAS NOT ENOUGH TO CROSS MAYOS AT 22000 FT. MAYOS XING ALT OF 22000 WAS MISSED BY 1000 FT. ZTL ADVISED OF THE MISSED XING ALT AND CREW IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED THE MISTAKE. TO CORRECT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, 2 INTXNS WITH THE SAME BEGINNING LETTER SHOULD BE SEPARATED, IE, MAJIC ARR -- KEEP MAJIC INTXN BUT CHANGE MAYOS CHANGED TO ANOTHER NAME, LIKE 'STIRP,' 'FILLY' OR ANOTHER NAME NOT STARTING WITH 'M.' SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 293585: FO PUT 22000 FT IN FMC AT MAJIC INTXN. WE MISSED MAYOS XING. CROSS MAYOS AT 24000 FT.
