Narrative:
On jan/xx/95, prior to departing outlaw field in clarksville, tn, I contacted the jackson FSS for a WX briefing. I was en route to st louis downtown-parks (cps). The WX I received at cps was 500 and 2 1/2 F and was confirmed by a company representative. Once airborne we flew past mount vernon and at approximately 60 mi out we had a woman from mount vernon call and give them an ETA of 30- 35 mins. Approximately 10-15 mi east of scott AFB the WX began to deteriorate. I felt at that time it would be unsafe to continue flight. I landed in a farm field next to the highway without incident.
