Narrative:

During climb out from mlu on air carrier flight XXX to pns, we were passing 11000 ft MSL, accelerating through 265 KTS, when we encountered moderate turbulence. The turbulence had been light/moderate chop from surface to that altitude. The moderate turbulence lasted approximately 2 seconds. The autoplt disconnected during the moderate turbulence, and was subsequently reengaged uneventfully. Apparently during this time (as reported to us by a flight attendant) a baggage bin came open and another flight attendant got up from her seat to close it. She was injured during the moderate turbulence. The seat belt sign was on,and the captain had given specific instructions to crew and passenger to remain seated due to the rough conditions. Flight XXX diverted into jan, in order to get medical attention to the injured flight attendant. Approach and landing at jan were uneventful. EMS personnel met the aircraft at the gate and took the flight attendant to receive medical attention.
