Narrative:
After pushback from gate, engine start, and release by ramp personnel for taxi, maintenance truck approached aircraft and parked near #2 engine without our knowledge. This was probably because we were discussing a minor mechanic problem with other maintenance personnel via radio. Problem was corrected and taxi commenced. Truck was struck by flap track fairing and #2 engine cowl. No injuries.

Title: RAMP OP RAMP DEP PROC ERROR AS B-747 HITS MAINT TRUCK DURING TAXI.
Narrative: AFTER PUSHBACK FROM GATE, ENG START, AND RELEASE BY RAMP PERSONNEL FOR TAXI, MAINT TRUCK APCHED ACFT AND PARKED NEAR #2 ENG WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE. THIS WAS PROBABLY BECAUSE WE WERE DISCUSSING A MINOR MECH PROB WITH OTHER MAINT PERSONNEL VIA RADIO. PROB WAS CORRECTED AND TAXI COMMENCED. TRUCK WAS STRUCK BY FLAP TRACK FAIRING AND #2 ENG COWL. NO INJURIES.
