Narrative:

Approximately XA45Z ZOB cleared flight direct to dny FL290 to cross 120 mi west of dny at FL250. First officer is PF and selects tkc dny -- selects navigation page 2 to determine initial heading. Captain tunes dny in NAV1 and notes not receiving dny, still out of range. Captain subsequently becomes involved in ATC frequency change and copying swf ATIS. ATC advises flight to begin descent now -- as crew notices NAV1 DME now indicating 120 NM. Omega had been left on NAV2 page, no distance information, and NAV2 left on previous NAVAID this flight was to last leg of a scheduled 11.57 duty day, 6.26 hour day.
