Narrative:

We taxied out of dfw at XA00 am. 1 controller was working tower and ground. I was training a new first officer. He was working the radios while I taxied the aircraft. When we reached the end of runway 36R, I told him to switch the frequency to tower. The next thing I heard was cleared for takeoff. After takeoff, I was waiting for a frequency change to departure and instead heard a ground instruction. The first officer had not switched to tower and the controller had given us takeoff clearance over the ground frequency. A new voice was on ground. They had split the frequency during our takeoff. Between the time I waited for the frequency change and the time to find the correct tower frequency and contact departure, we had climbed to 7000 ft on our way to 10000 ft and traveled 7 mi north of dfw. The remainder of the flight was normal. We had additional instruction on radio work during the remainder of the trip.

Title: ACR MLG TOOK OFF ON GND CTL FREQ.

Narrative: WE TAXIED OUT OF DFW AT XA00 AM. 1 CTLR WAS WORKING TWR AND GND. I WAS TRAINING A NEW FO. HE WAS WORKING THE RADIOS WHILE I TAXIED THE ACFT. WHEN WE REACHED THE END OF RWY 36R, I TOLD HIM TO SWITCH THE FREQ TO TWR. THE NEXT THING I HEARD WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. AFTER TKOF, I WAS WAITING FOR A FREQ CHANGE TO DEP AND INSTEAD HEARD A GND INSTRUCTION. THE FO HAD NOT SWITCHED TO TWR AND THE CTLR HAD GIVEN US TKOF CLRNC OVER THE GND FREQ. A NEW VOICE WAS ON GND. THEY HAD SPLIT THE FREQ DURING OUR TKOF. BTWN THE TIME I WAITED FOR THE FREQ CHANGE AND THE TIME TO FIND THE CORRECT TWR FREQ AND CONTACT DEP, WE HAD CLBED TO 7000 FT ON OUR WAY TO 10000 FT AND TRAVELED 7 MI N OF DFW. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS NORMAL. WE HAD ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION ON RADIO WORK DURING THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP.
