Narrative:

After second engine start, we got 'check electronic flight instrument system source' and '#2 yaw damper fail.' first officer lost speed mode on pfd. Had 'air data computer fail' light on source select panel. Ran checklists. We as well pulled #2 air data computer breaker and took aircraft back to APU power where it had been normal. Selected each electric source back -- it remained failed. Same messages on multi-function display unit. The MEL check got confusing. I failed to read the other paragraph under note on crew placard, I thought that the restr for 'lmp only' applied if we needed. We were going to placard and notify en route. The speed mode has no great guidance. It is very clear for standby airspeed, standby altitude, primary altitude but not first officer speed mode. All other instruments were normal. I rebriefed mty day VFR. Dfw was day VFR as well. At takeoff at toga, all first officer instruments returned to normal. I gave the first officer the aircraft after clean up. Shortly thereafter, we got the 'ground flight cont' and ' ground proximity fail' level 3 alert due to stabilizer trim out of takeoff range. We slowed to get trim into green band. Alert stopped. We notified dispatch and proceeded to dfw at 220 KTS. On approach at gear down, emergency lights went out in the cabin. Normal land. All messages clear at touchdown except 'ground proximity.' at shut down at gate, all messages came back as on ground at mty. Question yaw damper misinterp. Was my fault due to not reading all information. How about guidance on the pfd speed mode.

Title: MULTIPLE TRANSIENT ELECTRICAL PROBS.

Narrative: AFTER SECOND ENG START, WE GOT 'CHK ELECTRONIC FLT INST SYS SOURCE' AND '#2 YAW DAMPER FAIL.' FO LOST SPD MODE ON PFD. HAD 'AIR DATA COMPUTER FAIL' LIGHT ON SOURCE SELECT PANEL. RAN CHKLISTS. WE AS WELL PULLED #2 AIR DATA COMPUTER BREAKER AND TOOK ACFT BACK TO APU PWR WHERE IT HAD BEEN NORMAL. SELECTED EACH ELECTRIC SOURCE BACK -- IT REMAINED FAILED. SAME MESSAGES ON MULTI-FUNCTION DISPLAY UNIT. THE MEL CHK GOT CONFUSING. I FAILED TO READ THE OTHER PARAGRAPH UNDER NOTE ON CREW PLACARD, I THOUGHT THAT THE RESTR FOR 'LMP ONLY' APPLIED IF WE NEEDED. WE WERE GOING TO PLACARD AND NOTIFY ENRTE. THE SPD MODE HAS NO GREAT GUIDANCE. IT IS VERY CLR FOR STANDBY AIRSPD, STANDBY ALT, PRIMARY ALT BUT NOT FO SPD MODE. ALL OTHER INSTS WERE NORMAL. I REBRIEFED MTY DAY VFR. DFW WAS DAY VFR AS WELL. AT TKOF AT TOGA, ALL FO INSTS RETURNED TO NORMAL. I GAVE THE FO THE ACFT AFTER CLEAN UP. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WE GOT THE 'GND FLT CONT' AND ' GND PROX FAIL' LEVEL 3 ALERT DUE TO STAB TRIM OUT OF TKOF RANGE. WE SLOWED TO GET TRIM INTO GREEN BAND. ALERT STOPPED. WE NOTIFIED DISPATCH AND PROCEEDED TO DFW AT 220 KTS. ON APCH AT GEAR DOWN, EMER LIGHTS WENT OUT IN THE CABIN. NORMAL LAND. ALL MESSAGES CLR AT TOUCHDOWN EXCEPT 'GND PROX.' AT SHUT DOWN AT GATE, ALL MESSAGES CAME BACK AS ON GND AT MTY. QUESTION YAW DAMPER MISINTERP. WAS MY FAULT DUE TO NOT READING ALL INFO. HOW ABOUT GUIDANCE ON THE PFD SPD MODE.
