Narrative:

We were cleared to taxi after pushback from concourse D to runway 16L for departure. Passing abeam concourse C to our left and the north satellite to our right just prior to entering taxiway B, I noticed a ground vehicle sbound coming from our right side. When I noticed that the vehicle did not appear to be slowing to give way to our aircraft, I said to captain (who was taxiing aircraft), 'truck coming from the right.' we were taxiing at a slow speed. The captain did not immediately slow aircraft so I applied firm braking to stop. The ground vehicle appeared to brake at about the same time as we did. He came to within 20-40 ft of aircraft. We checked with passenger for injuries due to quick stop. We had ground control track driver of truck to find out his identity. After talking with captain, it turns out that we both must have applied brakes at same moment because we each thought we were the one who stopped aircraft. In retrospect, the very abrupt stop to avoid the vehicle could have been avoided if I had taken control of brakes from captain sooner and had not tried to verbally communicate when there was very little time to evaluate the situation.

Title: MLG MUST MAKE QUICK STOP WHILE TAXIING TO AVOID VEHICLE ON TXWY.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI AFTER PUSHBACK FROM CONCOURSE D TO RWY 16L FOR DEP. PASSING ABEAM CONCOURSE C TO OUR L AND THE N SATELLITE TO OUR R JUST PRIOR TO ENTERING TXWY B, I NOTICED A GND VEHICLE SBOUND COMING FROM OUR R SIDE. WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE SLOWING TO GIVE WAY TO OUR ACFT, I SAID TO CAPT (WHO WAS TAXIING ACFT), 'TRUCK COMING FROM THE R.' WE WERE TAXIING AT A SLOW SPD. THE CAPT DID NOT IMMEDIATELY SLOW ACFT SO I APPLIED FIRM BRAKING TO STOP. THE GND VEHICLE APPEARED TO BRAKE AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS WE DID. HE CAME TO WITHIN 20-40 FT OF ACFT. WE CHKED WITH PAX FOR INJURIES DUE TO QUICK STOP. WE HAD GND CTL TRACK DRIVER OF TRUCK TO FIND OUT HIS IDENTITY. AFTER TALKING WITH CAPT, IT TURNS OUT THAT WE BOTH MUST HAVE APPLIED BRAKES AT SAME MOMENT BECAUSE WE EACH THOUGHT WE WERE THE ONE WHO STOPPED ACFT. IN RETROSPECT, THE VERY ABRUPT STOP TO AVOID THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF I HAD TAKEN CTL OF BRAKES FROM CAPT SOONER AND HAD NOT TRIED TO VERBALLY COMMUNICATE WHEN THERE WAS VERY LITTLE TIME TO EVALUATE THE SIT.
