Narrative:

Taxi on inner at dtw on way to runway 3L. Turned off active runway 3L and stopped short of inner. An medium large transport was about 1/4 mi from us when he stopped. We didn't know where he was to go but he seemed to be waiting for us. He was holding between inner and outer. We taxied by medium large transport on our way to 3L. After we went by, pilot of medium large transport called ground and asked what is the # of the widebody transport who took out my windshield with wing tip. Ground control told him to call company. I said on radio 'are you serious'. Medium large transport pilot made no comment. I did not wish to get ground control involved so said no more and ground did not tell pilot my flight #. I tried to call medium large transport on company but got an answer. I assume he felt our wing got too close to his aircraft. I and first officer and so did not think we were too close. We knew we did not hit the medium large transport nor did we feel we were that close. First officer watched wing tip as we went by. I would have liked to know how close we had come to medium large transport for my own education. However after his comment to ground I don't know what I could believe from this fellow company pilot.

Title: WDB TAXIING PAST HOLDING MLG ACFT. ALLEGEDLY ACCUSED BY CAPT OF THE MLG OF THE WDB WING TIP TAKING OUT HIS WINDSHIELD. NO FURTHER COM.

Narrative: TAXI ON INNER AT DTW ON WAY TO RWY 3L. TURNED OFF ACTIVE RWY 3L AND STOPPED SHORT OF INNER. AN MLG WAS ABOUT 1/4 MI FROM US WHEN HE STOPPED. WE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE HE WAS TO GO BUT HE SEEMED TO BE WAITING FOR US. HE WAS HOLDING BTWN INNER AND OUTER. WE TAXIED BY MLG ON OUR WAY TO 3L. AFTER WE WENT BY, PLT OF MLG CALLED GND AND ASKED WHAT IS THE # OF THE WDB WHO TOOK OUT MY WINDSHIELD WITH WING TIP. GND CTL TOLD HIM TO CALL COMPANY. I SAID ON RADIO 'ARE YOU SERIOUS'. MLG PLT MADE NO COMMENT. I DID NOT WISH TO GET GND CTL INVOLVED SO SAID NO MORE AND GND DID NOT TELL PLT MY FLT #. I TRIED TO CALL MLG ON COMPANY BUT GOT AN ANSWER. I ASSUME HE FELT OUR WING GOT TOO CLOSE TO HIS ACFT. I AND FO AND SO DID NOT THINK WE WERE TOO CLOSE. WE KNEW WE DID NOT HIT THE MLG NOR DID WE FEEL WE WERE THAT CLOSE. FO WATCHED WING TIP AS WE WENT BY. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW HOW CLOSE WE HAD COME TO MLG FOR MY OWN EDUCATION. HOWEVER AFTER HIS COMMENT TO GND I DON'T KNOW WHAT I COULD BELIEVE FROM THIS FELLOW COMPANY PLT.
