Narrative:

On flight from msy to mia on dec/xx/94, cockpit crew performed before starting engines checklist. Start crew checked in on headset and discussed the pwrback from gate. The guideman said our tail would go the captain's left. Clearance was received to start and ground control advised us that we were cleared to pwrback at our discretion. Signals were given correctly by guideman and the aircraft moved straight back and then tail left with signal from guideman. The all clear salute was given and captain flashed the taxi lights. Ground control was notified that flight was ready to taxi. The pwrback put us in a position that required a right turn to taxi to hold short of runway 01. As we made the turn to the right I noticed a B-737 that was behind us holding his position approximately 75-100 ft from the hold short position heading approximately 010 degrees. We were switched to msy tower after completing checklists and made a normal takeoff. Approximately 10-15 mins after takeoff ATC advised us to contact our company. The flight engineer called back to msy and found out that a passenger had seen our aircraft hit another aircraft on the ground. I continued to fly the aircraft while the captain talked to the company and dispatch. The decision was made to return to msy and investigate. I requested an ATC clearance back to msy where a normal landing was make. Returned to gate for inspection. Supplemental information from acn 291533: upon arrival at gate an inspection revealed that we had contacted an S-80 on taxi-out.

Narrative: ON FLT FROM MSY TO MIA ON DEC/XX/94, COCKPIT CREW PERFORMED BEFORE STARTING ENGS CHKLIST. START CREW CHKED IN ON HEADSET AND DISCUSSED THE PWRBACK FROM GATE. THE GUIDEMAN SAID OUR TAIL WOULD GO THE CAPT'S L. CLRNC WAS RECEIVED TO START AND GND CTL ADVISED US THAT WE WERE CLRED TO PWRBACK AT OUR DISCRETION. SIGNALS WERE GIVEN CORRECTLY BY GUIDEMAN AND THE ACFT MOVED STRAIGHT BACK AND THEN TAIL L WITH SIGNAL FROM GUIDEMAN. THE ALL CLR SALUTE WAS GIVEN AND CAPT FLASHED THE TAXI LIGHTS. GND CTL WAS NOTIFIED THAT FLT WAS READY TO TAXI. THE PWRBACK PUT US IN A POS THAT REQUIRED A R TURN TO TAXI TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 01. AS WE MADE THE TURN TO THE R I NOTICED A B-737 THAT WAS BEHIND US HOLDING HIS POS APPROX 75-100 FT FROM THE HOLD SHORT POS HDG APPROX 010 DEGS. WE WERE SWITCHED TO MSY TWR AFTER COMPLETING CHKLISTS AND MADE A NORMAL TKOF. APPROX 10-15 MINS AFTER TKOF ATC ADVISED US TO CONTACT OUR COMPANY. THE FE CALLED BACK TO MSY AND FOUND OUT THAT A PAX HAD SEEN OUR ACFT HIT ANOTHER ACFT ON THE GND. I CONTINUED TO FLY THE ACFT WHILE THE CAPT TALKED TO THE COMPANY AND DISPATCH. THE DECISION WAS MADE TO RETURN TO MSY AND INVESTIGATE. I REQUESTED AN ATC CLRNC BACK TO MSY WHERE A NORMAL LNDG WAS MAKE. RETURNED TO GATE FOR INSPECTION. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 291533: UPON ARR AT GATE AN INSPECTION REVEALED THAT WE HAD CONTACTED AN S-80 ON TAXI-OUT.
