Narrative:

On a part 91 flight from (yip) to (air driven generator) we received vectors from toledo approach control for the NDB runway 5 (air driven generator). After receiving and identing the inbound course, we began descent to about 500 ft above MDA. Approach control then issued altitude alert and advised 3 mi north of course while our ADF showed on course. While correcting course, we broke out in VFR conditions northeast of airport and canceled IFR. If I was in command, I would have gone missed and diagnosed for equipment malfunctions.

Title: FLC OF LTT FAILED TO FOLLOW THE PRESCRIBED NDB APCH RESULTING IN ATC INTERVENTION TO PROVIDE OFF COURSE AND LOW ALT ALERT.

Narrative: ON A PART 91 FLT FROM (YIP) TO (ADG) WE RECEIVED VECTORS FROM TOLEDO APCH CTL FOR THE NDB RWY 5 (ADG). AFTER RECEIVING AND IDENTING THE INBOUND COURSE, WE BEGAN DSCNT TO ABOUT 500 FT ABOVE MDA. APCH CTL THEN ISSUED ALT ALERT AND ADVISED 3 MI N OF COURSE WHILE OUR ADF SHOWED ON COURSE. WHILE CORRECTING COURSE, WE BROKE OUT IN VFR CONDITIONS NE OF ARPT AND CANCELED IFR. IF I WAS IN COMMAND, I WOULD HAVE GONE MISSED AND DIAGNOSED FOR EQUIP MALFUNCTIONS.
