Narrative:

(I'm a flight instructor) dec/xx/94 at XA50 inbound for landing at dab runway 07L. Controller told us to enter a left base for runway 07L. I read back the clearance and entered a left base for runway 07L on a heading of 180 degrees. At that time we were in contact with dab approach on 125.8. My student asked me questions about how to enter a left base for runway 07L and where we were in relation to the airport, and at the same time approach control wanted us to switch over to tower 120.7. But I could not hear that because my student was talking to me and cut the controller off. This happened approximately 4 mi northwest of airport. When we were about to turn final, I got anxious and wanted to contact tower. But approach came back on 125.8 and told us to switch over to tower on 120.7. So we did and the controller told us to turn from a heading of 180 degrees to 070 degrees (left turn) and do a 'missed approach.' we started a left turn and saw an airplane that was turning base to final to the parallel runway 7R. I judged that he (the other airplane) was too close to me. So instead of turning left I turned right to 270 degrees to avoid him and aligned myself with runway 07L. Students and instructors must be more alert and listen more carefully when inbound for landing.

Title: THE RPTR DID NOT FOLLOW THE TWR GAR INSTRUCTIONS.

Narrative: (I'M A FLT INSTRUCTOR) DEC/XX/94 AT XA50 INBOUND FOR LNDG AT DAB RWY 07L. CTLR TOLD US TO ENTER A L BASE FOR RWY 07L. I READ BACK THE CLRNC AND ENTERED A L BASE FOR RWY 07L ON A HDG OF 180 DEGS. AT THAT TIME WE WERE IN CONTACT WITH DAB APCH ON 125.8. MY STUDENT ASKED ME QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW TO ENTER A L BASE FOR RWY 07L AND WHERE WE WERE IN RELATION TO THE ARPT, AND AT THE SAME TIME APCH CTL WANTED US TO SWITCH OVER TO TWR 120.7. BUT I COULD NOT HEAR THAT BECAUSE MY STUDENT WAS TALKING TO ME AND CUT THE CTLR OFF. THIS HAPPENED APPROX 4 MI NW OF ARPT. WHEN WE WERE ABOUT TO TURN FINAL, I GOT ANXIOUS AND WANTED TO CONTACT TWR. BUT APCH CAME BACK ON 125.8 AND TOLD US TO SWITCH OVER TO TWR ON 120.7. SO WE DID AND THE CTLR TOLD US TO TURN FROM A HDG OF 180 DEGS TO 070 DEGS (L TURN) AND DO A 'MISSED APCH.' WE STARTED A L TURN AND SAW AN AIRPLANE THAT WAS TURNING BASE TO FINAL TO THE PARALLEL RWY 7R. I JUDGED THAT HE (THE OTHER AIRPLANE) WAS TOO CLOSE TO ME. SO INSTEAD OF TURNING L I TURNED R TO 270 DEGS TO AVOID HIM AND ALIGNED MYSELF WITH RWY 07L. STUDENTS AND INSTRUCTORS MUST BE MORE ALERT AND LISTEN MORE CAREFULLY WHEN INBOUND FOR LNDG.
