Narrative:

Pushed back from gate msp along aircraft at gate, unloading cargo. Right engine only. Had to turn right although going to runway 29R. I thought I was clear (150 ft) from carts but blew carts over anyway. Within limits (45 percent N1) of company. Even with a gradual turn and a good distance from carts, some blew over injuring 1 ramp personnel. I also figured that if I started left engine, it would be right next to carts. Tug operator didn't want me to turn left, he said afterward, because I might blow towards other carrier. Also he said that he was worried about pushing out onto inner taxiway because 'aircraft might come around the corner too fast and not be able to stop.' he seemed unaware that we could probably get clearance from ground I was unaware of his reasons for disconnecting us where he did. I found out later that there are charts available for all aircraft, but I've never seen them. We saw the carts blown over after our 270 degree turn. We called back on climb out and found out the man had been hurt.

Title: DURING TAXI OUT FROM GATE A B757 BLEW OVER BAGGAGE CARTS CAUSING INJURY TO 1 GND HANDLER.

Narrative: PUSHED BACK FROM GATE MSP ALONG ACFT AT GATE, UNLOADING CARGO. R ENG ONLY. HAD TO TURN R ALTHOUGH GOING TO RWY 29R. I THOUGHT I WAS CLR (150 FT) FROM CARTS BUT BLEW CARTS OVER ANYWAY. WITHIN LIMITS (45 PERCENT N1) OF COMPANY. EVEN WITH A GRADUAL TURN AND A GOOD DISTANCE FROM CARTS, SOME BLEW OVER INJURING 1 RAMP PERSONNEL. I ALSO FIGURED THAT IF I STARTED L ENG, IT WOULD BE RIGHT NEXT TO CARTS. TUG OPERATOR DIDN'T WANT ME TO TURN L, HE SAID AFTERWARD, BECAUSE I MIGHT BLOW TOWARDS OTHER CARRIER. ALSO HE SAID THAT HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT PUSHING OUT ONTO INNER TXWY BECAUSE 'ACFT MIGHT COME AROUND THE CORNER TOO FAST AND NOT BE ABLE TO STOP.' HE SEEMED UNAWARE THAT WE COULD PROBABLY GET CLRNC FROM GND I WAS UNAWARE OF HIS REASONS FOR DISCONNECTING US WHERE HE DID. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT THERE ARE CHARTS AVAILABLE FOR ALL ACFT, BUT I'VE NEVER SEEN THEM. WE SAW THE CARTS BLOWN OVER AFTER OUR 270 DEG TURN. WE CALLED BACK ON CLBOUT AND FOUND OUT THE MAN HAD BEEN HURT.
