Narrative:

I was cleared to land (at dvt) ahead of a flight of 2 faster aerobatic planes (pitts). I was asked to do (and did) a short approach by the tower. As I was touching down, tower asked me to 'make the next turn-off,' but I replied 'I won't be able to make this one, maybe the next.' tower replied something like, 'I really need you to make the next one, have fast traffic behind you landing.' I tried my best to make the first turn off, overshot by maybe 20 ft. As I was slowing to make a left 160 degree turn to the taxiway, my left main was now flat from a hole in the 2-WK old tire. I know it is the pilot's responsibility to say 'unable' in this situation, but I feel like the tower coerced me into making a bad decision by his comment concerning the fast traffic behind me. I guess I learned a valuable lesson, but it cost me $200 and closed the runway for 30 min or so. I think the tower was partly responsible by sequencing me ahead of faster traffic.

Title: PVT PLT OF SMA SEL BLOWS TIRE DURING LNDG IN AN EFFORT TO TURN OFF EARLY IN COMPLYING WITH TWR INSTRUCTION.

Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO LAND (AT DVT) AHEAD OF A FLT OF 2 FASTER AEROBATIC PLANES (PITTS). I WAS ASKED TO DO (AND DID) A SHORT APCH BY THE TWR. AS I WAS TOUCHING DOWN, TWR ASKED ME TO 'MAKE THE NEXT TURN-OFF,' BUT I REPLIED 'I WON'T BE ABLE TO MAKE THIS ONE, MAYBE THE NEXT.' TWR REPLIED SOMETHING LIKE, 'I REALLY NEED YOU TO MAKE THE NEXT ONE, HAVE FAST TFC BEHIND YOU LNDG.' I TRIED MY BEST TO MAKE THE FIRST TURN OFF, OVERSHOT BY MAYBE 20 FT. AS I WAS SLOWING TO MAKE A L 160 DEG TURN TO THE TXWY, MY L MAIN WAS NOW FLAT FROM A HOLE IN THE 2-WK OLD TIRE. I KNOW IT IS THE PLT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SAY 'UNABLE' IN THIS SIT, BUT I FEEL LIKE THE TWR COERCED ME INTO MAKING A BAD DECISION BY HIS COMMENT CONCERNING THE FAST TFC BEHIND ME. I GUESS I LEARNED A VALUABLE LESSON, BUT IT COST ME $200 AND CLOSED THE RWY FOR 30 MIN OR SO. I THINK THE TWR WAS PARTLY RESPONSIBLE BY SEQUENCING ME AHEAD OF FASTER TFC.
