Narrative:
I just took off from st paul runway 32 after a touch and go and was turning crosswind to the left when the controller said she was changing runways. I should proceed around downtown and enter right traffic for runway 14. I requested to leave the pattern to the southeast. She said 'approved' and said that there were 3 aircraft ahead. I turned left to the southeast and after a few seconds saw a cessna on downwind at 1/4 mi, 11:30 O'clock and approximately 100 ft above. I evaded to the right and down and then evaded to the left to avoid a king air also on downwind. I don't think either plane saw me. The controller should not have cleared me to turn into oncoming traffic. She knew the locations of all planes -- I didn't. Had I known where these planes were I would not have turned. I think she was trying to be helpful but she put all of us in a dangerous position over the city.
