Narrative:

After takeoff, master warning and tail compartment temperature high lights illuminated. Accomplished emergency procedure checklist and returned to dfw without declaring an emergency. On short final tower referred to us as the emergency aircraft. We replied that we had not declared an emergency. However, tower responded that they had declared an emergency for us.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF, MASTER WARNING AND TAIL COMPARTMENT TEMP HIGH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. ACCOMPLISHED EMER PROC CHKLIST AND RETURNED TO DFW WITHOUT DECLARING AN EMER. ON SHORT FINAL TWR REFERRED TO US AS THE EMER ACFT. WE REPLIED THAT WE HAD NOT DECLARED AN EMER. HOWEVER, TWR RESPONDED THAT THEY HAD DECLARED AN EMER FOR US.
