Narrative:

Zan asked to verify our clearance altitude of FL190. We were at FL200. We verified our mistake in setting the altitude alerter to 200 instead of 190 and descended to altitude FL190. We received clearance to FL190 and wrote and read back FL190 as our assigned altitude. While taxiing out and running before takeoff checks, FL200 was entered and verified by both pilots in the altitude alerter. Our first realization of our mistake was when zan asked our clearance altitude. We corrected immediately to FL190. To avoid future problems, all clrncs should be entered before the aircraft leaves the gate.

WE RECEIVED CLRNC TO FL190 AND WROTE AND READ BACK FL190 AS OUR ASSIGNED ALT. WHILE TAXIING OUT AND RUNNING BEFORE TKOF CHKS, FL200 WAS ENTERED AND VERIFIED BY BOTH PLTS IN THE ALT ALERTER.
