Narrative:

On climb out departing sea -- at approximately 17-000-131O KIAS -- in the clear, scattered clouds below, #2 (right) engine failed. Followed QRH procedures and since no oil pressure, no #1 or #2 indicated, pulled respective fire handle. Coordinated with ATC for immediate return to seatac and declared an emergency. Through station personnel at sea-talked with local maintenance, received changeover information and requested they get our dispatcher on the land line to get him in the loop of things. Ran all applicable normal checklists, notified flight attendants and then passenger of the requirement to return to sea because of an aircraft problem and that we would be landing in about 15 mins. Also requested one of the flight attendants to do a visual check of the respective engine to confirm engine still attached. Not on fire or any other obvious indications. They confirmed all looks normal, except that it was not running. Ran remaining checklists requested long runway 34R. Had sea station remind dispatch it would be an overweight landing, 138000 pounds, and received his concurrence of our intended action. Landed overweight on runway 34R at sea, taxied to gate, thanked crash crew and ATC personnel for their help and parked the aircraft. Debriefed local maintenance, called our dispatcher and tulsa technician to answer questions -- they had. Company found us another airplane departed 1.5 hours later for uneventful trip to ord.
