Narrative:

Landed in heavy rain with a cell above the airport. Once we landed (vref was 110 KTS) below 80 KTS it seemed like we hit a curtain of water that stuck to the windshield like glue. We could not see anything and before we realized we were in the grass. The water could have been a big puddle on the runway or some downburst out of the thunderstorm cell. (Microburst.) the only reason I could think of why or what force drove us off the runway could be windshear with light contributing hydroplaning, plus the fact that due to the wall of water that had suddenly hit the windshield, we were not able to see a thing (not even the rails along the runway).
