Narrative:

Departing jfk the situation was scattered along route. When making the turn south at champ a line of thunderstorms was noted crossing a 300 about 80-100 NM south of champ. A request was made for deviation east of track to avoid WX on 129.9. When approaching WX clearance had not been received I declared an emergency and circumnavigated WX returning to a 300 as soon as possible. I asked on a telephone patch to ZNY if any report was required or requested and ZNY replied negative.
