Narrative:

On flight to hanscom field, ma (VFR) in a cessna 172, my alternator was inoperative with all radios, lights, strobes, etc. My battery weakened. Upon reaching hanscom field, I circled and rocked my wings and received a green light to land. The FBO pulled my battery for charging, indicating that I had an alternator problem. Next morning I took off for home base at frc, long island, arriving safely. However, the alternator seemed to operate intermittently. Alternator was removed and a broken wire was repaired.
