Narrative:

Pilot gave blood in morning. Did not eat supper. Normal takeoff. Since conditions 2000 ft AGL very hazy, decided to land. Normal approach. At touchdown, brain ceased to function normally. Judgement clouded. Result, plane went off runway to left and collided with dirt pile at side of runway, damaging wing tips and propeller. No injuries to pilot, sole occupant. Problem: pilot should not have flown, but giving blood resulted in oxygen deficiency to brain, clouding better judgement whether to fly. Suggest broad dissemination -- don't fly for at least 2 days after giving blood. Cause - - low blood sugar, oxygen deficiency to brain.
