Narrative:

The handoff of air carrier X was flashing to my sector cyn (58) I called the transferring controller to ask him to stop the aircraft at FL190 because I had air carrier Y at FL200. The other controller (sector 17) said that he would and took the handoff back, put FL190 in the datablock and flashed the handoff once again. I took the handoff and waited for the aircraft to check in. When the aircraft finally checked in there was an 8 delay with my reply and I missed the altitude. As the 2 targets are crossing I began coordination with the adjacent sector for higher at which point conflict alert activate, and I question the aircraft about his altitude. He reported that he has been cleared to maintain FL230 and that was the altitude he checked in climbing to. It seems the controller at sector 17 failed to assign the coordinated altitude and I missed the altitude the aircraft reported climbing to.

Title: ACR X CLB THROUGH OCCUPIED ALT HAD LTSS FROM ACR Y. SYS ERROR.

Narrative: THE HDOF OF ACR X WAS FLASHING TO MY SECTOR CYN (58) I CALLED THE TRANSFERRING CTLR TO ASK HIM TO STOP THE ACFT AT FL190 BECAUSE I HAD ACR Y AT FL200. THE OTHER CTLR (SECTOR 17) SAID THAT HE WOULD AND TOOK THE HDOF BACK, PUT FL190 IN THE DATABLOCK AND FLASHED THE HDOF ONCE AGAIN. I TOOK THE HDOF AND WAITED FOR THE ACFT TO CHK IN. WHEN THE ACFT FINALLY CHKED IN THERE WAS AN 8 DELAY WITH MY REPLY AND I MISSED THE ALT. AS THE 2 TARGETS ARE XING I BEGAN COORD WITH THE ADJACENT SECTOR FOR HIGHER AT WHICH POINT CONFLICT ALERT ACTIVATE, AND I QUESTION THE ACFT ABOUT HIS ALT. HE RPTED THAT HE HAS BEEN CLRED TO MAINTAIN FL230 AND THAT WAS THE ALT HE CHKED IN CLBING TO. IT SEEMS THE CTLR AT SECTOR 17 FAILED TO ASSIGN THE COORDINATED ALT AND I MISSED THE ALT THE ACFT RPTED CLBING TO.
