Narrative:
We were deviating around thunderstorms. Approach asked us to turn to a heading which would take us directly into the cell. I declined. Then ATC told us to immediately descend to 10000 ft and turn right (into thunderstorm). I then got a TA on TCASII, complied with ATC. She then gave us traffic, a B-737, 12 O'clock, 1 mi at 11000 ft and apologized to us for the mishandling, stating it was a 'communication' problem. She also gave the other aircraft an evasive turn. I think ZDV failed to coordinate our WX deviation with cos approach.
