Narrative:

Our aircraft radar vectored to fly heading 240 degrees to intercept but arrival (215 radial). Assigned 4000 ft, I was programming FMS. Copilot flying, looking, saw sail plane at our 11:30 position, same altitude. Initiated right break. It was close. Advised center of glider at 4000 ft in area. Center replied 'they must not have a transponder, I don't see them.' glider was climbing and came up to our altitude. Again it pays to have all the mark 1 eyeballs available looking outside.
