Narrative:

747-standard from sfo through ord to iad. Inbound flight wrote up automatic brake inoperative, automatic spoiler inoperative, circuit breaker set no help and #3 generator tripped off line on landing operational line requirements were sent in error stating the only write-up was anti skid inoperative. Changed anti skid write-up to correct automatic brake write-up in computer. Aircraft arrived at XA15 and was dug out at XA35. I made the decision to defer these items if legal per MEL due to turn around time and the fact I was the only gate mechanic working the trip. I misread the MEL stating the automatic brake can't be deferred along with the automatic spoilers. I read it as anti skid only, not anti skid/automatic brake. I deferred automatic spoilers, did full MEL text, and check and then also deferred the automatic brake system also doing the MEL text. Aircraft departed ord to iad. Iad maintenance caught the mistake and cleared the deferred automatic spoilers inoperative by doing an operational check per maintenance manual. Aircraft departed iad legally. I have been an a&P mechanic for 27 yrs, working for air carrier Y airlines from 1967-1983, (air carrier Z airlines from jan/84-apr/84, and air carrier X from apr 84 to present, and to my knowledge this is my first offense of improper maintenance procedures. I realize that my hurrying to get an aircraft out on time violated MEL procedures.
