Narrative:

While operating as atx X flight from sux to mci being radar vectored for an ILS to runway 19R at mci, we were cleared on a heading and to descend and maintain 4000 ft. Passing through 5000 ft, as the PNF, I started to complete the in-range checklist. Descending through 4500 ft, I called out standard company 500 ft to go call. As I completed the checklist, I looked up and the altitude alert horn was going off and annunciator light flashing. The captain was descending through 3700 ft. As I brought it to his attention, ATC (kansas city approach) cleared us to 3000 ft. We continued our descent, were later cleared for the approach and completed the flight without further incident.
