Narrative:

Entered mid point left downwind for runway 18. Extended gear upon entering. Confirmed appearance left gear extending. 40 degrees of flaps. IAS 85 LORAN ground speed 70 KTS. Flared for landing and on touchdown, plane acted 'squirrely.' plane started veering to the right. Nose started to rise enough to block forward vision. Applied full left rudder, but to no avail. Plane came to rest off edge of runway in soft mud. Post incident analysis, is that on extension of gear, gear motor kept running and popped the gear pump motor circuit breaker. Hydraulic pressure apparently reduced. Pilot operating handbook advises if gear pump motor runs longer than 30 seconds, pilot should pull the circuit breaker. Pilot wears david clark 10-80 headset with gel filled ear cups. These reduce exterior noise to the point that it would be impossible to hear the gear pump motor running. Damage not enough to consider the event an accident.
