Narrative:

Captain of falcon 900, mar/wed/94, XA40Z. Nx departed dca for dtw. Upon gear retraction there was a loud air noise coming from the area of nose gear, with gear up indication normal. After talking with company maintenance, we elected to continue to dtw. When extending gear at dtw, nose gear did not extend. Crew completed emergency gear extension checklist, still no nose gear indication. I informed flight attendant and passenger of the possibility of an emergency landing. On a fly-by of dtw tower for a visual check, we were informed the nose gear was not down. We notified the tower and company operations of our intentions for landing with the nose gear retracted. Emergency equipment was in place. Crew completed all briefing and checklists for emergency landing and evacuate/evacuation. At XD39Z, mar/thu/94, nx landing on runway 3R at dtw and evacuate/evacuation was completed with no injuries and minor damage to aircraft. At this time FAA has classified this an accident, but may reclassify when damage is assessed. I have filed a NTSB report. In judgement, I believe I was overloading myself communicating with too many different people (ATC, flight attendants, passenger, another company aircraft in our area, and company operations in dtw). I should have let the first officer talk to ATC. The flight attendants to brief passenger. Decisions: I was planning on making the emergency landing at iad. I allowed company operations to talk me into bringing the aircraft home to dtw. I will reconsider that decision in the future.
