Maneuvering to land during approach to jackson hole airport GPWS terrain warning sounded as airport came into view. Continued approach and landed jac. Emphasize being on 186 degree radial within 16 mi DME below 12000 ft. WX also a factor as clear below 12000 ft. Reported WX turned out to be clear below 8000 ft, not 12000 ft. Reported WX led pilot to choose VFR approach when IFR WX conditions existed. Still tracking in 186 degree radial to jac would avoided terrain warning.
