Narrative:

After taxiing to runway 2 for takeoff, a discrepancy in the aircraft was noticed. Because the tie-down ramp was only 50 ft from the runway, I neglected to notify ground as I moved the aircraft back to the parking space. The ground controller queried my actions but seemed fairly undisturbed. I should have called him before moving, even though parking was adjacent to the runway.
