Narrative:
En route from oak to psp, I went off frequency to get psp ATIS. When I returned to frequency, ATC called and asked if we were cleared V137 psp? I heard the captain say 'I thought we were cleared V386.' ZLA said turn right 20 degrees to intercept V137 psp. We did. Sometimes I wonder if the age 60 rule is a good thing. The captain is 58 1/2 and this is the second time navigation incidents have occurred when I have been off frequency getting ATIS.
