Narrative:

A dispatcher for a major united states air carrier reports his heroics in guiding a giant airliner across the atlantic to a safe landing at atl, its scheduled destination. The aircraft, an unspecified widebody transport with no number of engines stated, blew a tire and destroyed a wheel on takeoff from lgw. The pieces of the wheel showed that it was wheel 1F. Parts of the brakes and engine cowling were found on the runway. Appropriate procedures were followed to set up continuous communication with the aircraft and the decision was made to continue across the water. Communication was reestablished over conus allowing a management pilot to get into the act. A chase plane was sent aloft to verify that the aircraft was in good order. The dispatcher landed the aircraft in atl without any help from the flight crew.
