Narrative:

During a maximum power takeoff runway 9L at mia, flight engineer advised the first officer and myself of a lower aft body overheat light at approximately 1000 ft AGL. The first officer took control of the aircraft while the flight engineer and I started the emergency checklist for a lower aft body overheat. We advised mia departure control of the situation and that we were dumping fuel and declared an emergency and our intentions to return to mia. The cockpit crew completed the fuel dump of approximately 16000 pounds to a landing weight of 154500 pounds. The warning light went out while on final approach to runway 9R at mia. After landing we taxied to the gate. It should also be noted that during the emergency that the flight attendants were notified of our problem. The #1 flight attendant came to the cockpit at which time we ran the 'test.' flight attendant and her entire crew performed their duties to such a high level of professionalism, that it was obvious to me upon deplaning that the passenger appeared extremely comfortable with an otherwise tense situation. Thanks to the entire crew for a job well done.
