Narrative:

Upon arrival at sjc the tower gave me clearance to land on runway 30R. Due to the arrival of a large commercial aircraft on runway 30L and my hesitation to turn towards it, I extended my downwind beyond the view of runway 30R's numbers and mistook the taxiway for the runway. This was my first time into sjc and my first flight into a tower control airport in approximately 10 yrs. I believe these 2 facts contributed to my pilot error. P.south. There was no traffic on the taxiway at the time and if there had been I would have realized my error and would not have landed on the taxiway.

Title: TXWY LNDG BY PVT PLT IN AN SMA.

Narrative: UPON ARR AT SJC THE TWR GAVE ME CLRNC TO LAND ON RWY 30R. DUE TO THE ARR OF A LARGE COMMERCIAL ACFT ON RWY 30L AND MY HESITATION TO TURN TOWARDS IT, I EXTENDED MY DOWNWIND BEYOND THE VIEW OF RWY 30R'S NUMBERS AND MISTOOK THE TXWY FOR THE RWY.
