Narrative:

Return flight yum-phx-yum. Dropped off passenger at executive terminal. Corporate officer went along for the ride (uninvited) hoping to log some time in a twin. Imposed self on PF on initial trip yum-phx, hands and feet on controls. On landing sequence, pilot reporting asked this person to keep clear of controls. Return flight: received clearance to maintain runway heading squawk XXXX departure frequency 124.1 maintain VFR at 3000 ft. Corporate officer's hands all over the place, setting ground frequency, etc. Sandwiched between 2 jets. Pilot reporting watching for rotation point of preceding jet, cleared into position and hold. Corporate officer playing with radios gave me the impression frequency were set up as he was holding the tablet containing departure clearance. Tower cleared my aircraft for takeoff with 1 jet on 4 mi final. Power, takeoff, runway heading, turned right heading 150. Looked for tablet, but by that time it was on the floor nowhere to be seen. Pushed aircraft over, leveled at 3000 ft, set 75 percent power when sent to departure frequency. To my horror, radio #2 set to ground frequency. To complicate matters, transponder was in standby. Went back to tower to ask for departure frequency (after placing transponder on). When tower asked what altitude plane was at, to my worst horror I saw altitude plus 200 ft and person on right with hands on wheel. I felt like a 40 hour pilot. After being yelled at, was sent to departure control who had a soothing voice and ushered my plane out of the area. Lots of errors. Never thought I would be writing to NASA. Problem: corporate officer interposing self on pilot. Worst problem: pilot did not put this person in the back seat, nor did he [fail to] have a clear understanding that this was not a training flight. How discovered: ATC caught it first. Corrective actions: try to save the situation. Total corrective action, resolve not to be in this situation again. Perceptions: this officer was a pilot, PIC somehow thought not to triple-check what his hands were on. Judgement: poor. Actions: no more passenger in front seat without thorough understanding on all parties clarified.

Title: CORP ACFT ON INITIAL CLB HAS ALTDEV AND WRONG FREQ.

Narrative: RETURN FLT YUM-PHX-YUM. DROPPED OFF PAX AT EXECUTIVE TERMINAL. CORPORATE OFFICER WENT ALONG FOR THE RIDE (UNINVITED) HOPING TO LOG SOME TIME IN A TWIN. IMPOSED SELF ON PF ON INITIAL TRIP YUM-PHX, HANDS AND FEET ON CTLS. ON LNDG SEQUENCE, PLT RPTING ASKED THIS PERSON TO KEEP CLR OF CTLS. RETURN FLT: RECEIVED CLRNC TO MAINTAIN RWY HDG SQUAWK XXXX DEP FREQ 124.1 MAINTAIN VFR AT 3000 FT. CORPORATE OFFICER'S HANDS ALL OVER THE PLACE, SETTING GND FREQ, ETC. SANDWICHED BTWN 2 JETS. PLT RPTING WATCHING FOR ROTATION POINT OF PRECEDING JET, CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD. CORPORATE OFFICER PLAYING WITH RADIOS GAVE ME THE IMPRESSION FREQ WERE SET UP AS HE WAS HOLDING THE TABLET CONTAINING DEP CLRNC. TWR CLRED MY ACFT FOR TKOF WITH 1 JET ON 4 MI FINAL. PWR, TKOF, RWY HDG, TURNED R HDG 150. LOOKED FOR TABLET, BUT BY THAT TIME IT WAS ON THE FLOOR NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. PUSHED ACFT OVER, LEVELED AT 3000 FT, SET 75 PERCENT PWR WHEN SENT TO DEP FREQ. TO MY HORROR, RADIO #2 SET TO GND FREQ. TO COMPLICATE MATTERS, XPONDER WAS IN STANDBY. WENT BACK TO TWR TO ASK FOR DEP FREQ (AFTER PLACING XPONDER ON). WHEN TWR ASKED WHAT ALT PLANE WAS AT, TO MY WORST HORROR I SAW ALT PLUS 200 FT AND PERSON ON R WITH HANDS ON WHEEL. I FELT LIKE A 40 HR PLT. AFTER BEING YELLED AT, WAS SENT TO DEP CTL WHO HAD A SOOTHING VOICE AND USHERED MY PLANE OUT OF THE AREA. LOTS OF ERRORS. NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD BE WRITING TO NASA. PROB: CORPORATE OFFICER INTERPOSING SELF ON PLT. WORST PROB: PLT DID NOT PUT THIS PERSON IN THE BACK SEAT, NOR DID HE [FAIL TO] HAVE A CLR UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS WAS NOT A TRAINING FLT. HOW DISCOVERED: ATC CAUGHT IT FIRST. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: TRY TO SAVE THE SIT. TOTAL CORRECTIVE ACTION, RESOLVE NOT TO BE IN THIS SIT AGAIN. PERCEPTIONS: THIS OFFICER WAS A PLT, PIC SOMEHOW THOUGHT NOT TO TRIPLE-CHK WHAT HIS HANDS WERE ON. JUDGEMENT: POOR. ACTIONS: NO MORE PAX IN FRONT SEAT WITHOUT THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING ON ALL PARTIES CLARIFIED.
