Narrative:

My accident occurred during the landing rollout. Utica was currently reporting poor braking action and snow covered runways. I was given the ILS to runway 33 and the winds around 9 KTS from the west. Due to the reported winds and icy conditions, I chose to land aircraft left of center,in my mind believing I was being extra cautious. I touched down south of the 27 (intersection) and upon crossing, my left main struck a 3 ft high snow pile. The aircraft received a fair amount of damage. The snow pile was man made and extended down the runway for a few thousand ft. It was 33 ft inside the runway lights. The snow piled in the runway was not in the NOTAMS, ATIS, and tower had no knowledge of it. Though the entire runway should have been available to me according to my information, I now understand the danger that may exist when landing anywhere but on the center.

Title: PLT OF AN SMT ATX ACFT LOST CTL OF THE ACFT DURING LNDG ROLLOUT WHEN THE ACFT HIT A SNOW BANK ON THE SIDE OF THE RWY RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE ACFT.

Narrative: MY ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING THE LNDG ROLLOUT. UTICA WAS CURRENTLY RPTING POOR BRAKING ACTION AND SNOW COVERED RWYS. I WAS GIVEN THE ILS TO RWY 33 AND THE WINDS AROUND 9 KTS FROM THE W. DUE TO THE RPTED WINDS AND ICY CONDITIONS, I CHOSE TO LAND ACFT LEFT OF CTR,IN MY MIND BELIEVING I WAS BEING EXTRA CAUTIOUS. I TOUCHED DOWN S OF THE 27 (INTXN) AND UPON XING, MY L MAIN STRUCK A 3 FT HIGH SNOW PILE. THE ACFT RECEIVED A FAIR AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. THE SNOW PILE WAS MAN MADE AND EXTENDED DOWN THE RWY FOR A FEW THOUSAND FT. IT WAS 33 FT INSIDE THE RWY LIGHTS. THE SNOW PILED IN THE RWY WAS NOT IN THE NOTAMS, ATIS, AND TWR HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF IT. THOUGH THE ENTIRE RWY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE TO ME ACCORDING TO MY INFO, I NOW UNDERSTAND THE DANGER THAT MAY EXIST WHEN LNDG ANYWHERE BUT ON THE CTR.
