After takeoff over airport, nose baggage door came open. Departed aircraft and landed on airport. After landing to recover door, met with FAA. While filling out report, I found that my medical license had lapsed about 60 days prior. I received a medical within 4 hours after I found it had expired and was issued a 3RD class medical, no limitations.
