Narrative:
Reporter was instructing a cfii candidate, practicing basic attitude instrument flying. As I removed my view limiting device, a red/white small aircraft Y came immediately to my attention. I banked right and climbed. The small aircraft Y did the same. We were level at 3500 ft on an ese heading. It is my opinion that the small aircraft Y was in cruise at the wrong VFR compass altitude. The small aircraft Y circled and appeared to give chase, we climbed and departed area to continue instruction.

Narrative: RPTR WAS INSTRUCTING A CFII CANDIDATE, PRACTICING BASIC ATTITUDE INST FLYING. AS I REMOVED MY VIEW LIMITING DEVICE, A RED/WHITE SMA Y CAME IMMEDIATELY TO MY ATTN. I BANKED R AND CLBED. THE SMA Y DID THE SAME. WE WERE LEVEL AT 3500 FT ON AN ESE HDG. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE SMA Y WAS IN CRUISE AT THE WRONG VFR COMPASS ALT. THE SMA Y CIRCLED AND APPEARED TO GIVE CHASE, WE CLBED AND DEPARTED AREA TO CONTINUE INSTRUCTION.
