Narrative:

At pushback from gate, so was informed by flight attendant in charge that the #1 left door would not engage fully. So informed captain of this and captain called for pushback checklist again. So asked captain if he should attempt to reset door during taxi. Captain responded yes. Flight attendant was informed of this. During taxi-out, so was informed that the girt bar had not engaged on 1 side and so attempted to correct this. Unable to correct the problem, we stopped taxi until mechanics could correct door problem. Taxi and flight then went normally. I don't feel we should taxi with any door problem, even though we were not initially informed of the girt bar problem. This occurred as aircraft was beginning its movement for pushback, very busy time. It is quicker and easier to correct problem at gate than during taxi, as well as possible safety issue.

Title: ACR TAXIES WITH DOOR NOT FULLY ENGAGED.

Narrative: AT PUSHBACK FROM GATE, SO WAS INFORMED BY FLT ATTENDANT IN CHARGE THAT THE #1 L DOOR WOULD NOT ENGAGE FULLY. SO INFORMED CAPT OF THIS AND CAPT CALLED FOR PUSHBACK CHKLIST AGAIN. SO ASKED CAPT IF HE SHOULD ATTEMPT TO RESET DOOR DURING TAXI. CAPT RESPONDED YES. FLT ATTENDANT WAS INFORMED OF THIS. DURING TAXI-OUT, SO WAS INFORMED THAT THE GIRT BAR HAD NOT ENGAGED ON 1 SIDE AND SO ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THIS. UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROB, WE STOPPED TAXI UNTIL MECHS COULD CORRECT DOOR PROB. TAXI AND FLT THEN WENT NORMALLY. I DON'T FEEL WE SHOULD TAXI WITH ANY DOOR PROB, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE NOT INITIALLY INFORMED OF THE GIRT BAR PROB. THIS OCCURRED AS ACFT WAS BEGINNING ITS MOVEMENT FOR PUSHBACK, VERY BUSY TIME. IT IS QUICKER AND EASIER TO CORRECT PROB AT GATE THAN DURING TAXI, AS WELL AS POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE.
