Narrative:
I was training a developmental who had close to 30 yrs of ATC experience during a period of moderate to heavy traffic. I had already been required to step in and send 2 aircraft around to prevent a conflict. I had hoped the developmental would be able to recover and regain his self confidence when small aircraft X asked to depart the traffic pattern to the southeast. Small aircraft X was issued a 180 degree heading which conflicted with air carrier Y who had been cleared for takeoff on runway 14. I momentarily lost sight of small aircraft X as he came up over top of the control tower. There was another conflict to be resolved and when I next saw air carrier Y and small aircraft X, they were in close proximity to one another. Small aircraft X made a descending turn to his left while air carrier Y made a descending turn to his right. I had let the developmental go too far and should have interceded earlier.

Title: ACR Y HAD NMAC, LTSS FROM SMA X. EVASIVE ACTION TAKEN. SYS ERROR.
Narrative: I WAS TRAINING A DEVELOPMENTAL WHO HAD CLOSE TO 30 YRS OF ATC EXPERIENCE DURING A PERIOD OF MODERATE TO HVY TFC. I HAD ALREADY BEEN REQUIRED TO STEP IN AND SEND 2 ACFT AROUND TO PREVENT A CONFLICT. I HAD HOPED THE DEVELOPMENTAL WOULD BE ABLE TO RECOVER AND REGAIN HIS SELF CONFIDENCE WHEN SMA X ASKED TO DEPART THE TFC PATTERN TO THE SE. SMA X WAS ISSUED A 180 DEG HDG WHICH CONFLICTED WITH ACR Y WHO HAD BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 14. I MOMENTARILY LOST SIGHT OF SMA X AS HE CAME UP OVER TOP OF THE CTL TWR. THERE WAS ANOTHER CONFLICT TO BE RESOLVED AND WHEN I NEXT SAW ACR Y AND SMA X, THEY WERE IN CLOSE PROX TO ONE ANOTHER. SMA X MADE A DSNDING TURN TO HIS L WHILE ACR Y MADE A DSNDING TURN TO HIS R. I HAD LET THE DEVELOPMENTAL GO TOO FAR AND SHOULD HAVE INTERCEDED EARLIER.
