Narrative:

Air carrier X descending to land lax was cleared through the altitude (15000) of an medium large transport. Traffic was heavy and complex at the time and radar controller was being distracted by the necessity of watching the trainee/instructor on the d-side to insure that coordination was being accomplished. Cause: radar controller 'forgot' the heading assigned to medium large transport and thought that medium large transport would fall behind air carrier X by at least 5 NM.
