Narrative:

Air carrier X descending to 12000 ft bitho arrival to mco. Instructed to level off at 17000 ft for traffic avoidance. TCASII alerted us (RA) and commanded a climb, which we did. We advised ATC of our climb to 18000 ft and observed aircraft Y on our left. No evasive action given by ATC or notification by ATC. If not requested by ATC to level off at 17000 ft no evasive action would have been required by us.
