Narrative:

I am writing this letter to further clarify my actions of jun/xx/93, as requested by you and by the teb, nj, FSDO. At approximately XF00 on jun/xx/93, I arrived at the atx long beach, ca, maintenance facility. After maintenance, I was to ferry my company's medium large transport aircraft to our facility at the van nuys airport, to be ready for an XB30 departure for the owner of the aircraft. The atx inspector was not at the FBO facility for my departure so I reviewed all work orders for proper completion and sign-off. After that I signed for and received the aircraft logbooks from the FBO inspection department. I then flew the airplane to van nuys. In error and in violation of the atx FAA approved gmm, I also signed atx form mlr-100-a. Upon landing at van nuys the atx inspector met the aircraft. I immediately informed him of my violation and asked if he could help in correcting my signing mlr-100-a. I was called by you on jul/xy/93 at which time you informed me of my violation and suggested steps that I must follow: write to you, a letter explaining my actions and then call mr. FSDO poi at the teb, nj, FSDO. I immediately complied with both suggestions. Again, I would like to stress that I was at fault and clearly in violation of atx's, FAA approved maintenance procedures. I have thoroughly reviewed the atx gmm that is carried on board the airplane. I assure you, atx management and the teb FSDO, mr. Poi, in particular, that I will not make this mistake in the future. I am very clear as to the seriousness of the violation and to my PIC authority and responsibility.

Title: CAPT OF AN MLG ATX ACFT OPERATED THE ACFT ON A FERRY FLT WHEN IT HAD NOT BEEN RELEASED AS AIRWORTHY FOR FLT BY THE PROPER AUTHORIZED PERSON.

Narrative: I AM WRITING THIS LETTER TO FURTHER CLARIFY MY ACTIONS OF JUN/XX/93, AS REQUESTED BY YOU AND BY THE TEB, NJ, FSDO. AT APPROX XF00 ON JUN/XX/93, I ARRIVED AT THE ATX LONG BEACH, CA, MAINT FACILITY. AFTER MAINT, I WAS TO FERRY MY COMPANY'S MLG ACFT TO OUR FACILITY AT THE VAN NUYS ARPT, TO BE READY FOR AN XB30 DEP FOR THE OWNER OF THE ACFT. THE ATX INSPECTOR WAS NOT AT THE FBO FACILITY FOR MY DEP SO I REVIEWED ALL WORK ORDERS FOR PROPER COMPLETION AND SIGN-OFF. AFTER THAT I SIGNED FOR AND RECEIVED THE ACFT LOGBOOKS FROM THE FBO INSPECTION DEPT. I THEN FLEW THE AIRPLANE TO VAN NUYS. IN ERROR AND IN VIOLATION OF THE ATX FAA APPROVED GMM, I ALSO SIGNED ATX FORM MLR-100-A. UPON LNDG AT VAN NUYS THE ATX INSPECTOR MET THE ACFT. AGAIN, I WOULD LIKE TO STRESS THAT I WAS AT FAULT AND CLEARLY IN VIOLATION OF ATX'S, FAA APPROVED MAINT PROCS. I HAVE THOROUGHLY REVIEWED THE ATX GMM THAT IS CARRIED ON BOARD THE AIRPLANE. I ASSURE YOU, ATX MGMNT AND THE TEB FSDO, MR. POI, IN PARTICULAR, THAT I WILL NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE IN THE FUTURE. I AM VERY CLR AS TO THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE VIOLATION AND TO MY PIC AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY.
