Narrative:

While discussing our flight route, first officer was hand-flying aircraft. Inattn to current altitude caused us to overfly to 16400 ft MSL. Cleared altitude was 16000 ft MSL. Altitude alert sounded and descended back to 16000 ft. In addition, we were in another controller's airspace but had not been handed off. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: call was made regarding reporter's comment they were in another controller's airspace but had not been handed off. He said that when they called ATC about their altitude deviation, the controller said they should be on another frequency.

Title: ACR LGT HAS ALT OVERSHOOT WHILE CLBING OUT OF MIA.

Narrative: WHILE DISCUSSING OUR FLT RTE, FO WAS HAND-FLYING ACFT. INATTN TO CURRENT ALT CAUSED US TO OVERFLY TO 16400 FT MSL. CLRED ALT WAS 16000 FT MSL. ALT ALERT SOUNDED AND DSNDED BACK TO 16000 FT. IN ADDITION, WE WERE IN ANOTHER CTLR'S AIRSPACE BUT HAD NOT BEEN HANDED OFF. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH REPORTER REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: CALL WAS MADE REGARDING RPTR'S COMMENT THEY WERE IN ANOTHER CTLR'S AIRSPACE BUT HAD NOT BEEN HANDED OFF. HE SAID THAT WHEN THEY CALLED ATC ABOUT THEIR ALTDEV, THE CTLR SAID THEY SHOULD BE ON ANOTHER FREQ.
