Narrative:

Tower issued 'cleared for takeoff' clearance. I taxied onto runway 28R at sfo, aligned the aircraft on centerline and transferred control to first officer who commenced the takeoff roll. (The tower did not issue any traffic information with the takeoff clearance.) at no time did our aircraft stop on the runway, but after full power was applied and we were established in our takeoff roll, the tower said 'cleared for immediate takeoff.' no reason for the urgency was stated and no traffic information was given by the controller. Shortly thereafter the tower issued a go around to an aircraft landing on our runway. During climb out my copilot stated that he had observed the traffic on final prior to our departure and implied that the aircraft didn't appear to be a factor in our takeoff. I had a conversation with the captain of the other aircraft. He stated that he was 3.5 mi out when I was given takeoff clearance and decided to 'keep on coming.' he stated that he felt he had adequate separation and elected not to slow down further.

Title: FLC OF ACR MLG ACFT DID NOT RESPOND IN A TIMELY MANNER TO TKOF CLRNC CAUSING ANOTHER ACFT ON FINAL TO BE 'SENT AROUND.'

Narrative: TWR ISSUED 'CLRED FOR TKOF' CLRNC. I TAXIED ONTO RWY 28R AT SFO, ALIGNED THE ACFT ON CTRLINE AND TRANSFERRED CTL TO FO WHO COMMENCED THE TKOF ROLL. (THE TWR DID NOT ISSUE ANY TFC INFO WITH THE TKOF CLRNC.) AT NO TIME DID OUR ACFT STOP ON THE RWY, BUT AFTER FULL PWR WAS APPLIED AND WE WERE ESTABLISHED IN OUR TKOF ROLL, THE TWR SAID 'CLRED FOR IMMEDIATE TKOF.' NO REASON FOR THE URGENCY WAS STATED AND NO TFC INFO WAS GIVEN BY THE CTLR. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE TWR ISSUED A GAR TO AN ACFT LNDG ON OUR RWY. DURING CLBOUT MY COPLT STATED THAT HE HAD OBSERVED THE TFC ON FINAL PRIOR TO OUR DEP AND IMPLIED THAT THE ACFT DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE A FACTOR IN OUR TKOF. I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH THE CAPT OF THE OTHER ACFT. HE STATED THAT HE WAS 3.5 MI OUT WHEN I WAS GIVEN TKOF CLRNC AND DECIDED TO 'KEEP ON COMING.' HE STATED THAT HE FELT HE HAD ADEQUATE SEPARATION AND ELECTED NOT TO SLOW DOWN FURTHER.
